About Us

The St Hugh’s Community Centre is close to the River Aire on Coach Road, Baildon. We offer an interesting mix of activities and groups for local residents. Whether you are interested in crafts, socialising or exercising, children's or youth's groups, visiting our café or joining our Reminiscence group, you will be made very welcome. We offer activities for all age groups and are always interested in hearing your suggestions. For a full list of our activities see our 'Activities' page.

We also take our role in improving our community seriously - we operate a food bank, a place to consult your local councillor, local and national elections and community campaign meetings.

FOOD BANK
St Hugh's Food Bank operates Monday to Wednesday. If you live in the Baildon area (BD17) and are struggling to feed yourself and/or your family, you can make a claim for a 3-day food parcel upto 3 times per year. To claim, telephone the food bank helpline on 07421 328187 to arrange a collection time (collections take place on Wednesday of each week). You may have to leave a message but we will get back to you as soon as we can. We will just ask you a few questions so that we can understand your situation and offer help. We run a collection only service - when you call we will arrange a convenient time for you to collect from St Hugh's. Subject to our stocks, we can also offer you toiletries, pet food and cleaning supplies.

The Centre is involved in active partnerships and links with other suitable organisations like Bradford Council and Baildon Town Council. We are supported by grants from a variety of funders and offer our services at low and often subsidised prices.

The Centre was set up by The Church of England’s Parish of Baildon in 1993 to provide a meeting place for local people and a venue for organisations to bring a mixture of activities into the area. The Centre is run by employed staff and volunteers, and managed by a constituted, voluntary committee.
