About Us

The St Hugh’s Centre is a community centre offering a interesting mix of activities for residents of the lower Baildon area. We have classes in craft, art, dance, yoga and Tai Chi. Join us for a weekly Bingo session, a cafe, monthly Reminiscence and Over 60s. We are also used as a venue for other groups like band practice, Hale Youth group, Recorder Players and more. We also take our role in improving this community seriously - in our community development we are involved in offering a food bank, a place to consult your local councillor, neighbourhood forums, local and national elections, community campaign meetings.

The Centre is involved in active partnerships and links with other suitable organisations like Bradford Council and Baildon Town Council. We are supported by grants from a variety of funders and offer our services at a low and often subsidised price.

The Centre was set up by The Church of England’s Parish of Baildon in 1993 as a response to the particular needs experienced by residents in this part of Baildon. The Centre employs one part-time Community Development Worker who oversees the day-to-day running of the Centre, organises the activities and sources funding. A body of volunteers runs groups and helps with fund-raising fairs. The Centre is overseen by a Management Committee who, in turn, report to the PCC.
